    • This story of a librarian trying to bounce back from a mental breakdown while dealing with book banners sounds like a must read for book lovers and anyone trying their best to keep it together in this crazy world.
  • Lost Lambs - Madeline Cash - 13 January
    • This novel is described as a humorous vision of the "charms and pitfalls of family dysfunction", which I think most of us can relate to. I will definitely be picking this one up for when I need a good laugh/cry.
  • Half His Age - Jennette McCurdy - 20 January
    • I loved her recent memoir I'm Glad My Mom Died for its balance of humor and heart, so I'm looking forward to Jennette McCurdy's debut novel. She is unapologetically honest in the most compelling way.
  • A Beast Slinks Towards Beijing - Alice Evelyn Yang - 27 January
    • Hearing a lot of good chatter about this dark, magical realist debut novel. It sounds like a fascinating mix of historical fiction and mystical folklore that will make for an epic read.
• APRIL
  • Go Gentle - Maria Semple - 14 April
    • I'm a big fan of Maria Semple from her memorable 2012 novel Where'd You Go, Bernadette, and I'm sure she will infuse her trademark wit into this new novel. Fun fact: Semple was also a screenwriter for beloved TV shows like Mad About You and Arrested Development, so we know she has comedy writing chops.
• JUNE
  • Field Guide for the Formerly Villainous - Autumn K. England - 02 June
    • In this fantasy novel, a formerly mind-controlled minion tries to heal by building a wholesome life of his own. I love a cozy fantasy in the vein of Legends & Lattes, so this seems right up my alley.
