The Shimmering Secret
The Shimmering Secret sparkles with a delightful narrative and vibrant, full-color illustrations. Set in an ancient Chinese village, the tale provides a cross-cultural message of hope and transformation. The adventures of little Hu Mei (rhymes with You May) and Wang Fu (the village bully) lead youngsters of any age to the secret that lives within each and every one of us. The ageless struggle to understand human feelings and behavior is answered when the children discover there is a core goodness beyond measure, something that’s always resided within them. In a time of much violence and unrest, The Shimmering Secret comes along with the basic truth that innocents and bullies alike share the ‘secret’ to hope, joy, forgiveness, and transformation.

The inspiration to write this magical tale came from inside a dainty porcelain bowl with a lid. When the author was 10 years old, she purchased the little bowl for a nickle at a white elephant sale. It reminds her of the sense of wonder that brings sparkle to a child’s eyes and can somehow, sometimes get lost on the path to adulthood.
